People Memorialize Their Loss With Cremation Jewelry

Submitted by: Andrew Collier

Cremation jewelry is one way you can always memorialize a deceased loved one. This jewelry is basically jewelry that contains some of the cremated ashes of a loved one. It has been gaining popularity. The jewelry comes in a variety of shapes and sizes.

When you lose a loved one, you may be overwhelmed with a full range of emotions, such as grief, mourning, sadness and denial. It can be a difficult process to deal with all these emotions and then you have to go through with a funeral. Accepting the loss of the loved one is a struggle.

However, there is a way that you can hold on to a part of the deceased and that is jewelry, which contains ashes. These keepsakes or mementos are just one way in memorializing your loss.

This jewelry is a specifically designed pendant that encases some form of the loved ones. It can be ashes, a lock of hair, dried flowers from the funeral or even some soul from the burial place. Whatever you decide that you want to memorialize in a piece of jewelry, you should talk with the funeral home or the owner of the crematory.

If you are wanting to have one of these pieces of jewelry, you can have the cremator do the actual gathering the ash, placing them in the jewelry and closing it up or you can personally do this with the help of the cremator.

When you want to do it yourself, the process requires some supplies, such as a paper funnel, adhesive glue and a toothpick. You first open the jewelry. This can occur in several ways: you twist open it by twisting the small screw at the top of the piece or you use a small screwdriver to loosen the screw on the side or at the bottom. It is typically an easy process.

After the screw is loosened, you put the funnel in the opening of the jewelry. That is when you use a spoon to get some ashes and you pour the ashes into the funnel. You may want to use a toothpick to maneuver the ashes into the little compartment of the jewelry.

Most of the time, you are given a plastic spoon, so it can be thrown away after you use it. The compartment should be typically filled about 80% so you may leave space for the screw to tighten the compartment.

For proper closing, you need to tighten it slowly and carefully. A small amount of super glue or epoxy glue is applied to the screw threads. Next, you should screw carefully and make sure it is tightened

These pieces of jewelry do come in a wide assortment of designs. The most common jewelry is in the shapes of a heart. Most designs are generally discreet and often go unnoticed. However, these pieces of jewelry are ways that you can always memorialize your loved one.

Until just recently, cremation jewelry has been considered a new concept. However, the concept actually has been used for thousands of years as a way of mourning the deceased. Mostly, this was a common practice for the wealthier people.
